GAPLA – the digitisation of film posters and film announcement placards
The digitisation of posters and placards in the National Film Archive has been ongoing since 2008. The digitised materials are described in detail, and the collections with metadata are available on the Gapla website (Film Poster Gallery).
Gapla presents the achievements of Polish film graphic design stored in the collections of the Polish Film Archive: the oldest examples of graphics advertising the cinematograph shows by the Lumière brothers in Kraków, pre-war placards and posters, post-war posters for Polish and foreign films, as well as foreign posters for Polish and international productions. The posters for film events such as festivals, reviews and special shows also make up an interesting collection. The www.gapla.fn.org.pl website currently features more than 6 700 items.
